About the On-line Evaluation
Meshcom has installed Meshcom Firmware (special on-line evaluation version) to normal off-the-shelf ADI Pronghorn SBC-250 hardware platform which is connected to internet through Firewall. This unit is a fully functional prototype of a typical WISP network Wi-Fi access point. It has two radios, one of which is configured for 802.11b and 802.11g connectivity for users, the other for 802.11a infrastructure backhaul.
The 802.11b/g radio has two different SSIDs; one for the standard end customers, which are accessing the “Example WISP Users” virtual access point (VAP), and other for the local public safety organizations which require a higher level of security and access the “Public safety users” virtual access point (VAP). The second radio is used only for the backhaul.
The web based management interface is based on the reference management interface. It can be customized to meet your company brand and image requirements and additional functionality for your specific application can be added. We hope that menus and their content are pretty self-explanatory.
Important Notice
We have disabled the possibility of taking settings into use and rebooting the node, because in many cases it would make the device inaccessible through the Internet. You can save the settings, but when you press “apply & reboot”, the unit will not really reboot. It just displays how it looks like when it would be rebooting.
The unit is behind a firewall, which only allows HTTP traffic. Even if you configure SSH or SNMP on, you can’t use those protocols to access the unit.
There might be others evaluating the unit at the same time, and saving their configuration. If it happens that unexpectedly a saved setting changes to new one that is the likely reason.
